There will be some instances that he will forget it. Gender is an achieved social status. It is different from Sex, which in turn is an ascribed social status. We acquire our sex (Male or Female) upon our birth, and we have no means of controlling and even literally changing it. However, we acquire our specific gender (Homosexual, Hetero etc) by ourselves, and by the different ‘structure of opportunities’* open to us.
So therefore, if he forgets anything about himself, and especially what he has achieved through his lifetime, then he will most likely forget that he was gay. Yet there might be some instances that he will remember it, especially if someone, or even something, is available to trigger his memory.
